cook with me: three fridge staples


Oat Milk:


  • 1 cup dry rolled oats

  • 3-4 cups of water (4 cups for looser milk, 3 cups for thicker milk)

  • Optional (but would be delicious inside): dates or maple syrup for sweetener, a pinch of salt (if you choose to sweeten), and a splash of vanilla.


  • Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until combined. Do not overblend, or milk will become clumpy.

  • Strain with a nutmilk bag or cheese cloth (optional) and store in a jar. Will keep for 3-5 days.

Pico de Gallo:


  • 3 ripe tomatoes

  • Cilantro (ugh)

  • 1 Jalapeno

  • Half of a red onion

  • 1 lime

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • salt & pepper to taste


  • Chop all the ingredients and combine in a mixing bowl.

  • Add lime, salt, and pepper to taste.

  • Will keep for 2-3 days.
